Welcome to ou happy staff for 2012. These are the lovely people who will be welcoming you and looking after you here at Chalet Chardons.

It's been (as always) a crazy start to the season, more so with the HUGE amounts of snow we are still getting. So we thought we would say thanks to everyone for their hard work and take them out for the day. On Tuesday we all headed over to the nearby resort of St Foy for some gentle skiing and some not so gentle off-piste. This photo was taken at the beginning of the day, before Doug's 'skier explosion' on the first run, Marks 'turtle moment' after a high speed crash through the trees and finally, nearly losing most of the staff on the long off-piste traverse back to Brevieres. We would like to report that fortunately everyone made it home in one piece, but unfortunately for them, back in time for work!

Ski lifts open early due to lots of snow!

The season has well and truly begun! The metre of snow we have seen in resort in the last week has given us a fantastic start to the season. The ski lift in the village has opened a week early giving us access to the Boisses Gondola. If you are on your way here, we'll see you on the slopes! If you are not, get on a plane!

Next month will see us make a rare appearance in the UK just in time for the London Ski & Snowboard Show at Earls Court. Last year we had a great time chatting with over 1500 skiers and boarders looking for great value for money snow holidays. We also enjoyed the visits from lots of previous guests who popped by to say hello. This year we are on Stand B30, opposite the husky dogs. If you have any questions about our hotel or chalets we would love to talk to you. The show runs from Wednesday October 19th to Sunday October 24th. See you there!

Tignes in the summer is just as beautiful and just as much fun as in the winter. And to prove it the resort offers loads of sports activities free of charge for our guests. Take your pick from air rifle shooting, archery, squash, swimming, trampolining, pedal boots, kayaks, canoes, tennis, beach football or volleyball and the famous lake jump. The Palafour and aeroski lifts also offer mountain bikers free unlimited access to the Tignes bike park. It's Snowing!

After the gorgeous sunny weather we've been enjoying the snow has returned to Tignes! We woke yesterday morning surrounded by the white stuff and swiftly joined the half term guests in hitting the slopes and enjoying the powder. Hailey, (pictured) our head chalet girl, and our other chalet staff had a fantastic afternoon surfing their way through the fresh powder, despite not really being able to see where they were going! Who needs visibility anyway?!

The Return of the Chalet Girl Take Down!

There are scores to be settled and in Brevieres there is only one way to do that!

This Wednesday sees the return (by popular demand, or otherwise from last years competitors) of the Underground Bar's Chalet Girl foam wrestling! Roll up to the Underground bar this Wednesday night and see the best of Brev take to the foam. Place your bets, sit back and watch the foam fly!

The lifts are open and so are the bars!

The underground bar may have had a make-over but happily the chaos continues regardless! Last nights toga party kicked off the fancy dress season in Brevieres in err... style (or otherwise). We were impressed at the creative use of bedsheets (don't tell the chalet girls) and even more impressed that Will the barman actually produced a Centurion outfit. Now that is dedication to your job.

We woke this morning to happily see glorious sunshine and the Sache gondola running. The village is open, the pistes are open and more importantly, so are our bars!

We're back in the snow! hurrah! - What do you mean we can't go skiing yet?!

After the bright lights of, err, London, we are now back at the hotel and gearing up for the season! The weather is not being particularly helpful by snowing so heavily we have to keep digging out the building supplies and vehicles every morning. Bad news for us workers, great news for the pistes! We'll report back on the skiing conditions just as soon as we've finished renovating the bar, installing a million toilets, done all the painting and decorating, laid a few carpets, shovelled all the snow from the balconies, shovelled more snow from said balconies, had a jolly good tidy up, fed Bungle the dog......hmm...... perhaps you'll have to wait a little while for that ski report!

Fun and lycra at the Ski & Snowboard Show!

We're having a great time at the Ski & Snowboard Show at London Olympia. We've had loads of people wanting to stop for a chat (and take advantage of the chocolate biscuits!) and today is shaping up to be just as good. Spending all day talking about skiing a snowboarding, it's hard not to get snow fever. We've now started the countdown to when the slopes open up and we'll be back on the mountain. (6 weeks since you ask...)

The snow has once more returned to Tignes proving the season to still be in full swing. The staff are certainly still enjoying themselves( don't be surprised if George the barman looks a bit dazed....).

Bungle's Haircut

As the snow dumps down across Tignes no one is feeling it more than Bungle, our faithful hotel night watchman. During the lovely sunny days we saw mid-March Bungle was feeling rather hot and bothered in his fur coat so Mark decided to help him out, much to the amusement of the hotel residents.

This is his 'Lion' look....

Unfortunately for Bungle, but fortunately for us, the weather then remembered we are in the Alps and it began dumping down! Poor Bungle....

Some of our lovely guests managed to catch this amazing picture out of the window of their Chardons hotel room a few weeks ago. The avalanche came down on the opposite side of the lake behind the hotel. We agreed it was a pretty impressive shot, if anyone has one they think might beat it we want to see them!

(No people, stray dogs or snowballs were harmed in the posting of this pic - well, maybe a few snowballs...)

Foam wrestling? Really?!

The slopes may have got a bit quieter but life at the Chardons is still full throttle in 2010. The Underground Bar is keeping everyone very busy with a huge line up for this week in spite of everyone still recovering from Fridays huge 80’s fancy dress party. Tonight we see Chris Franks & his acoustic guitar rocking the dancefloor (and likely the tables too) before Monday night sees the return of the epic ‘Chalet Girl Foam Wrestling’. Put your (vodka shot) bets on and watch the best of Brevieres settle the seasons scores the only way we know, wrestling in a pit of foam and then coughing up bubble bath for the next week (or was that just me?).

If we’ve recovered we’re celebrating Australia Day on Tuesday by having a barbie and a few beers before Wednesday sees the Underground Bar hosting a monster DJ night with Espace Killy favourites, DJ’s Wolverine and Hanibal Selecta hitting the decks. We keep ploughing through on Thursday with the table football competition (no doubt turning into guests Vs staff again), before Fridays Letter ‘C’ Fancy Dress Party sees the week off in style (or otherwise depending on the costume!)

This combined with the powder & mougals, everyones’ stamina is being sorely tested both on and off the slopes….. we’re not hearing any complaints though!

New Year powder & sunshine!

The Snow has really started to come down, with a metre of fresh over the past week the slopes have really taken off! It’s always nice to walk into the bar of an evening to hear so many smiley stories about peoples days, especially when the conditions are this good; Lots of powder, accompanied by sweet bluebird days!

With more snow on its way, lift passes under 200 Euros for a week and reduced ski hire for 2010, it’s the perfect time to bag some fun with us in a rather snowy Tignes! Catch you out here!

Storm Troopers at breakfast for New Years Eve at Chalet Chardons

Guests and staff alike were surprised this morning as what appeared to be the cast of Star Wars joined them for a New Years Eve breakfast in the hotel dining room. It was a sterling effort by our guests ahead of the big fancy dress party in the (in)famous Underground Bar this evening.

We just hope Chewbacca makes it through the day without being spotted and caught as the Abominable Snowman...
